“If I have to say anything, it’s just thank you, thank you.” When Grandpa Xu, leaning on his cane, was escorted to the stage by colleagues and family, the colleagues had worried about his health and even prepared a chair on stage. However, Grandpa Xu stood up agilely to thank everyone, which moved the audience. It was hard to imagine that not long ago, Grandpa Xu was bedridden and needed care.
Grandpa Xu and his family attended the 30th anniversary celebration of Longtan Minsheng Hospital, accompanied by family members, to express their gratitude to the home healthcare team. Thanks to the team, Grandpa Xu, who was once bedridden, can now get up and move around. This is the same goal that President Yang Minsheng had 30 years ago when he founded Longtan Minsheng Hospital: to serve the local community.
On the 8th, Longtan Minsheng Hospital celebrated its 30th anniversary with the theme "Thirty and Thriving, You and I Live Healthy and Active." Many dignitaries attended the event, including Minsheng Medical System founder President Yang Minsheng, Taoyuan City Health Bureau Section Chief Huang Xiangyun, Longtan District Office Secretary Xu Jingyang, Deputy Director of the Hakka Affairs Bureau Luo Guoyu, City Councilors Xu Yushu, Zhang Zhaoliang, Deputy Director of the Taoyuan Armed Forces General Hospital Zhan Zhengxiong, Director Sha Jianbai, many local village chiefs, community members, and past department heads of Longtan Minsheng Hospital. The celebration started with a performance by the Wuaijia Family Taiko Drum Team from Shanghua Li Community, attracting many people to gather together for a health exercise. Hospital Director Liu Yilian invited the attending guests to the stage to cut the anniversary cake and share it with the audience.
On August 8, 30 years ago, President Yang Minsheng, feeling the lack of medical resources in the Longtan area, personally visited multiple times and established the Minsheng Comprehensive Hospital Longtan Branch at the former site of Huaxing Kindergarten on Zhongfeng Road. He hoped to provide quality medical services to the local community. In his speech, he especially thanked the small owner of Huaxing Kindergarten, Guan Shengbang, and his father, who were willing to sell the land to the hospital, enabling the system to develop in Longtan.
Over the past 30 years, Longtan Minsheng Hospital has faced many challenges in medical resources. With the implementation of National Health Insurance, budget restrictions, and the establishment of neighboring hospitals and clinics, the hospital has undergone significant tests in its operation. From a comprehensive hospital with both emergency and critical care services, it has undergone several organizational reforms. In recent years, it has put more effort into managing community healthcare services.
Director Liu Yilian said that in addition to the previous efforts through the integration of medical and nursing care, the hospital has established cooperative partnerships with nearby nursing homes and care institutions. Over the past two years, it has also deepened its involvement in the community and expanded the scope and depth of community healthcare services. Thanks to the support from the Zion Mission Association for donating 100 patient garments and Leadtek Technology for donating remote healthcare equipment related to the Health Cloud, the hospital is now able to offer better innovative services.
In recent years, the hospital has increased the number of service visits at community care points and cooperated with schools to help various sites apply for the Long-term Care 2.0 C point. The hospital itself has also actively expanded home healthcare, home nursing, home rehabilitation, and home nutrition services, bringing medical care directly to homes. It has promoted the elderly disability prevention program to the community and established a support network for case and household management through the "Taoyuan City Government Medical Concierge Plan" and discharge preparation services. In the future, it hopes to combine products from medical technology companies to provide remote health care services to the public.
Mr. Pan is one of the service cases. In December last year, the hospital staff visited Mr. Pan’s home. When they arrived, they saw a small cement house filled with clutter. Due to the cold weather, Mr. Pan was using charcoal to heat the house. His blood pressure was found to be as high as 280/130mmHg. It was later discovered that Mr. Pan, who is blind, was unable to go out for medical treatment, resulting in untreated high blood pressure. The staff immediately helped him apply for the "Medical Concierge Plan" by the Taoyuan City Health Bureau and arranged for home medical visits.
Due to his blindness, Mr. Pan could not go to the hospital to get his medication. Therefore, the hospital worked with volunteers from the Longtan District Huashan Foundation to provide home medication delivery services. As of today, there have been 11 visits, and Mr. Pan’s blood pressure is now controlled at around 170/100mmHg. Mr. Pan now looks forward to the hospital staff’s visits and greets them with a smile. The staff also worked with the village chief, Peng, to apply for financial assistance, hoping Mr. Pan will receive better care with everyone's help.
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Longtan Minsheng Hospital held not only the celebration but also medical service checkpoints (kidney knowledge, electrocardiogram, bone density and fundus examination, four cancer screenings), charity sales, and other related activities. The hospital also invited past medical and administrative management supervisors, as well as families who received home healthcare and people who successfully quit smoking after 20 years, to share their stories and express gratitude for the hospital’s care. President Yang Minsheng also wrote a commemorative message for the 30th anniversary of the hospital: "Reflect, prevent mistakes, increase service value, create opportunities, and innovate for development," hoping that the hospital, in its 30th year, will continue to provide the best medical care to the Longtan community.
