Leadtek Technology Provides Free AI Heart Rate Screening at the Platinum Rotary Club Event

In Taiwan, nearly 800,000 people require long-term care, with up to 70% of cases caused by disability resulting from stroke-related sequelae. Professor Emeritus Kao Ming-jian from the National Taiwan University School of Medicine mentioned that if conditions could be detected early, they could be prevented or treated sooner, which would not only save a family but also save Taiwan a significant amount of money.

On October 8, 2020, Leadtek Technology provided free AI heart rate screening at the Platinum Rotary Club event. The H2 Plus wearable ECG recorder can detect irregular heartbeats in just 30 seconds. At the event, 25 participants aged 30 to 50 had their measurements taken. One participant showed symptoms of atrial fibrillation, and three others displayed irregular heart rate data. Professor Kao noted, "Of 100 stroke patients, about 20 are caused by arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. The likelihood of atrial fibrillation is quite high, with an incidence rate of around 1%. Taiwan has at least 230,000 people with atrial fibrillation, with 30,000 new cases annually. For people over 65, especially those with metabolic syndrome, the incidence can rise to 5%, and for those over 75, it can reach 10%." Early detection of high-risk groups and effective management can reduce the incidence and disability rates of strokes, increasing the chances of recovery for stroke patients and reducing the social and family burdens.

Therefore, 20% of strokes are caused by arrhythmias, and smart devices can monitor this. In the past, heart rhythm tests required 24-hour devices, but now atrial fibrillation can be detected using AI. By wearing a wristband, similar to wearing a watch, for two weeks, 80% of irregular heartbeats can be detected. "Many people think that strokes happen suddenly, but in fact, most of them have warning signs," said Professor Kao. Through heart rhythm monitoring, the occurrence of strokes can be significantly reduced. As the weather turns colder, cardiovascular disease patients need to pay more attention to staying warm and measure their health regularly for peace of mind!
